ROBERSONVILLE, N.C. – Garrett Marchant returns to East Carolina Motor Speedway this Friday and hopes to break out of a recent slump.
His last race at East Carolina didn’t go as planned when lingering issues in his No. 77 limited late model resulted in a sixth-place finish at the three-eighths-mile oval. This time around Marchant is confident the team has fixed those issues and he is ready to break into victory lane.
“I’m ready to hop back in the saddle this weekend. Success is coming,” Marchant said. “We are going to fight hard Friday and see what happens. The ultimate goal remains to win. After the past few weeks, a solid top three or four run would be great.”
Despite his recent bad luck, Marchant feels like he and his team have had a solid year so far. Now it is time for them to take the next step.
“We’ve had a good year so far, we’ve just got to keep it going,” Marchant said. “If you put yourself in the top three to five every week you’ll eventually go to victory lane. I’m just ready to be in the right place at the right time.”
Gates for Friday’s race at East Carolina open at 4 p.m. with racing scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.
