CHARLOTTE NC (July 9, 2012) – Fifteen year old Garrett Marchant kept his foot on the gas pedal this past weekend as he competed in 75 laps around Southern National Motorsports Park. The driver of the No. 77 Lone Star Car Transportation Chevy Limited Late Model, Marchant was focused on changing the direction of his car this weekend after several races of missing the set-up. Garrett would qualify in the 6th position and finish the race in the 8th spot after dealing with radio issues between his team and himself.
“Wow! What a day for myself and the team, the car was an absolute rocket ship! We had it very close to the feel I had the night of the South East Limited Late Model race, which is something I’ve been searching for. I’m so glad that I found it. We were fast all day, fourth fastest in practice and sixth in qualifying, and after lots of adversity (radio issues) we rallied to an eighth place finish. I had to start from the rear at least two times and I drove my tail off. The past few weeks have been humbling and I’m so thankful to have had a strong run” Marchant said about his performance on Saturday.
An important announcement for those planning on attending Garrett’s Fan Appreciation will be happy to know that the event is now free to attend and that donations will be accepted the day of to help raise funds for Racing 2 Cure.
