CHARLOTTE NC (February 26, 2013) – Garrett Marchant, driver of the No. 77 Chevy at Southern National Motorsports Park, joined fans in the cold Carolina weather this past week to help raise funds to educate the future. Marchant spent four hours on February 20 signing autographs and meeting fans at the Roanoke Rapids, NC Chick-fil-A. The event was held to raise money for the Marchant’s hometown elementary school, Belmont Elementary School. Fans and members of the community brought in vouchers to make sure their meal helped raise funds.
The evening also featured an unveiling of Marchant’s new No. 77 Lone Star Car Transportation / @WalgreensCVAZ / AFG Home Improvements / Kim’s Sweet Sensations Charger Chevy. This year’s car features a bolder look that will surely standout at Southern National. Designed by team member Dustin Stallings and produced by Kenneth Toler, the No. 77 loses the skull on the hood and is replaced by Lone Star’s new company logo.
“I really enjoy helping others, whether it is from events like tonight to my efforts as a Racing 2 Cure ambassador,” Marchant explained, “It was great to also show my car to fans in my hometown that have yet to make it to the track to see me race. From what I heard when speaking to fans, there are going to be more neon orange t-shirts in the stands!” Marchant is referring to his custom t-shirts that proudly display his No. 77 car and sponsors, which can be purchased online and there are a limited amount of shirts left.
Marchant will return to Southern National on March 2 to start the 2013 season, a full race preview will be posted in a few days.
