The Sugarloaf Mountain Region of Maryland sponsored its second annual Activities Meet on Sunday, September 19, 1971 at the Damascus. (Md.) American Legion. Members of the nation's capital Model T Club assembled a completely dismantled 1926 Ford in 9 minutes and 11.5 seconds.
Among the trophies awarded were Oldest Car: Russell Long for 1909 Ford; Most Outstanding (1897-1910): Russell Long, 1909 Ford; (1911-1920): Dave Martin, 1920 Locomobile; (1921-1930): William Peter, 1933 Buick; (1931-1937): Joe Canova, 1931 Packard; (1938 and up): Bob Williams, 1941 Cadillac. Award for Best Ford went to Herb Collins, 1916 Ford.
Other trophies were awarded for Longest Distance; Costumes; Jousting and other events.
