Salem Ace Brett Hudson Searching For Victory In First ARCA Race Of 2008

SALEM, Indiana (April 9, 2008) - Anytime you notch a top-five finish at Salem Speedway it’s been a good day. But for Owensboro , Kentucky native Brett Hudson he’s frustrated that his ARCA success at the half-mile oval hasn’t yielded a victory. He’ll get another shot at the historic half-mile oval though this weekend as racing resumes for the ARCA RE/MAX Series in Sunday’s Kentuckiana Ford Dealers 200 by Federated Auto Parts.

Last year was a memorable year for the young driver. In both events last year, Hudson stormed to finishes of fourth and fifth respectively after qualifying in the top-10 also for both venues. It’s another year and while Hudson aims for a top-five finish Sunday, he’s hoping that a little more luck is on his side and he’ll be able to claim his first-career ARCA victory on Sunday.

“I’m ready to win at Salem ,” said Hudson, who plans to make his 15th career ARCA start on Sunday. “We’ve been good every single time we’ve unloaded at the track and we’re not expecting anything different this weekend. But, we’re itching for a win. We’ve won a pole, run in the top-five and even had our fair share of beating and banging. The only thing we’re missing is a win. We’re going to try conquer that feat on Sunday.”

Brett Hudson Motorsports (BHM) has teamed up with Venturini Motorsports for round two on the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule and will carry the familiar No. 25 this weekend. “It’s unfortunate that Venturini Motorsports will not be competing here this weekend as they are prior winners here. However we are happy to unite with them this weekend,” added Hudson . “We’re hoping that uniting for this one race will pay dividends for both race teams.”

Weather has plagued the BHM team throughout much of the year’s first quarter keeping the team in Western Kentucky and away from the Indiana-facility. A last minute attempt to test last week proved to be void as Mother Nature wreaked havoc with several days of heavy rain. Even without the track time, the team is remaining optimistic strolling into the second event of the season.

“It’s been a long time since I can remember that Mother Nature has won,” Hudson smiled. “She may win once or twice, but she won the war this year. We’re disappointed that we didn’t get on the track, but hopefully the notes that we’ve acquired will help us. If not, we’re just going to have to tweak with our setup and hope we drum up something strong.”

Salem marks the first of a limited schedule for Brett Hudson Motorsports this year. After a strong 2007 effort, Hudson is hoping to keep the momentum going beginning this weekend.

“We’re just glad to be back here in the ARCA RE/MAX Series,” sounded Hudson . “It’s a great series and we’ve been here a while. At this point, we don’t have the sponsorship to run a full schedule, but we’ll be chugging along throughout the year with stops on both the short tracks and speedways. I know right now we’ll be at both Salem events, both Kentucky races and Chicagoland. Hopefully we’ll acquire some sponsorship that will allow us to increase our schedule.”

Hudson added, “We ended the season on a good note last year and we like to keep the string of positive runs going. A good run this weekend will definitely keep the team spirits up.”

The BHM team will host Hudson Machine Shop, G&A Trucking, Lloyds Mechanical, Fannon & Rice Cable Construction and Double H Hydraulics as sponsors this weekend at Salem Speedway.

“We’re very appreciative of the companies that have stepped up for our first race of the season,” Hudson added. “As a team we’re going to go out there and try to keep our Salem record on track and give our sponsors something to cheer about.”

The Kentuckiana Ford Dealers 200 by Federated Auto Parts (200 laps/111 miles) is the second of 21 events on the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. The 80th ARCA race held at Salem is a two-day show. Practice begins Saturday, April 12 with an hour and a half practice session planned from 12:00-1:30 p.m. ARCA SIM Factory pole qualifying is set for later in the day slated to begin at 3:30 p.m. The event will take the green flag on Sunday, April 13 shortly after 2:15 p.m. The race will be televised as tape-delayed (date and time to be announced) on MavTV with additional race coverage online at arcaracing.com. · Brett Hudson is scheduled to make his sixth career ARCA start at Salem Speedway on Sunday. In his previous five starts, Hudson has racked up one pole, two top-fives and three top-10s.

· Brett Hudson will attempt to make his 15th career ARCA RE/MAX Series start Saturday. In his previous 13 races, Hudson has produced two top-fives and seven top-10 finishes.

· Brett Hudson Motorsports will roll out their familiar Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS model this weekend at Salem . BHM will fluctuate between Chevrolets on the short tracks before switching to the Dodge Charger model on the speedways.

· Following Salem Speedway, Hudson is scheduled to compete in the Drive Smart Buckle Up Kentucky 150 at Kentucky Speedway on May 10.
