“Stuart, Florida Native Bryan Silas To Focus On NCWTS Effort”

Bryan Silas
CONCORD, North Carolina (February 13, 2012) - - Officials from T3R Motorsports announced today that the team will invade the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) on a full-time basis in 2012 beginning with the season-opening NextEra Energy Resources 250 at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway on Friday, February 24, 2012.

Bryan Silas, a native of Stuart Florida will be locked into his third appearance at the “World Center of Racing” as the driver of the No. 99 Rockingham Speedway Ford F-150. The 24-year old Silas, a Rookie of the Year candidate will be guided by veteran crew chief Cal Boprey; who’s worked with the Floridian for several years including a stint in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards.

“I’m excited to be going back to Daytona in a truck,” said Silas. “I feel it’s truly one of the best shows of Speedweeks. From the moment that green flag drops, there’s no room for error and little time to rest; the competition is that fierce. It will be fun though and I’m looking forward to putting on a good show for the fans and everyone at T3R.”

Silas, who recorded his first career stock-car victory at Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway in the CARS Pro Cup Series (formally known as the USARacing Pro Cup Series) last November, is determined that his team has the capabilities of keeping a healthy on-track presence this year.

“We’ve been building this program up for a while,” marked Silas, who made six NCWTS starts last year. “I spent a lot of time racing in the ARCA Racing Series and I feel the experience there is going to help me in a truck. While the vehicles are different, we compete at a lot of the same types of tracks and that is extremely beneficial. It’s also a good feeling that a lot of the drivers I competed against in ARCA are now over here in the trucks too, so there’s that comfort zone as far as who I’m racing around.”

The Nextera Energy Resources 250 (100 laps / 250 miles) is the first of 22 events on the 2012 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series schedule. The first practice session of the year begins on Thursday, February 23rd from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A final “happy hour” practice session has been etched in that night from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Qualifying is set for race day scheduled to lift off at 4:00 p.m. The 36-truck starting field will take the green flag shortly after qualifying just after 7:30 p.m. with live coverage on SPEED, the Motor Racing Network (Radio) and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio (Satellite Radio, Channel 90). Pre-race coverage of the anticipated thriller is tentatively scheduled to lift off at 7:00 p.m. also on SPEED.
