Rep. John A. Boehner, R-Ohio (8th CD), issued the following column:
It's the time of year when families either begin planning or are finalizing their summer getaways. This year, rising gas prices are causing more and more families to stay home rather than creating summer memories at the shore. As of May 9, the average prices of gas in Ohio had risen to $3.76 per gallon, according to www.ohiogasprices.com.
A recent AOL/Zogby poll showed that 30 percent of middle-class families are changing their vacation plans to save money. Those who own recreational vehicles (RVs), which get only about 10 miles per gallon, are shortening their trips rather than taking full advantage of the freedom RVs provide. …
