Congressman John Boehner (R-West Chester) issued the following statement after learning from General Motors Corp. that Hamilton’s Rose Chevrolet will remain in business:
“Congratulations to Ed Larkin and everyone at Rose Chevrolet for their hard work and persistence throughout this appeal process. For 25 years, Rose Chevrolet has been a driver of our local economy, providing well-paying jobs to its employees, and contributing to a number of local charities.
“Today’s news is all that Rose Chevrolet asked for: a fair decision based on their record as one of the best dealerships in southwest Ohio. It is also an important reminder of the questions that remain unanswered regarding the government’s role in the restructuring of GM.”
NOTE: Since the taxpayer bailout and subsequent takeover of GM, Congressman Boehner has repeatedly questioned the government’s role in the process that led to GMs surprising attempt to try and shut down Rose Chevrolet without explanation. In July of last year, Boehner offered a Resolution of Inquiry requesting that the president to transmit to the U.S. House of Representatives all information regarding financial assistance provided to GM and Chrysler. In June of 2009, Boehner wrote a letter of support for Rose Chevrolet’s appeal.
