House Republicans Move To Cut Wasteful Stimulus Road Signs

WASHINGTON -- The following information was released by the office of Ohio Rep. John Boehner:

They're big. They're green. And they've got a blaring orange banner across the top with a stick figure and a shovel shouting "Putting America To Work." If you've happened upon one of these "stimulus" road signs and wondered just how much of your hard-earned tax dollars are being wasted, you aren't alone. Dayton's WHIO-TV recently reported on the widespread frustration in southwest Ohio with this "stimulus" spending in a July 1 report:

As WHIO notes, Ohio alone has spent an estimated $1 million on signs to cheerlead the "stimulus" at more than 400 locations in Ohio - some at sites where no apparent work is underway. …
