US Department of Labor extends deadline for West Virginia highway construction projects’ prevailing wage surveys to Dec. 18 Publisher: Department of Labor Byline: Leni Fortson & Joanna Hawkins Dateline: Charleston, West Virginia Date: 30 November 2022 Subjects: American Government , Roads & Highways, Labor |
CHARLESTON, WV – The U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division today announced an extension of the deadline for submitting prevailing wage survey by West Virginia’s highway construction industry employers to Dec. 18, 2022.
Surveys help the agency establish prevailing wage rates as the Davis-Bacon and Related Acts requires. By law, the department must set rates that reflect the actual wages and fringe benefits paid to construction workers in the county where the work takes place.
Employers for highway construction projects that were active between Jan. 1, 2021, and Nov. 18, 2022, in all West Virginia counties are strongly encouraged to complete their surveys by Dec. 18, 2022. Projects are not limited to federally funded construction projects. Mailed submissions must be postmarked by Dec. 18.
Full participation by contractors and other interested parties enables the department to establish accurate prevailing wages and create complete wage determinations, which reduces the need for contractors to request additional labor classifications.
The division will send notification letters and WD-10 data collection forms to interested parties and contractors known to the agency. Contractors and other interested parties do not need to receive a letter to participate in the survey. Surveys can also be completed online. To participate in the survey, or ask questions about the survey, or its process and forms, please contact LaDonna Vick at vick.ladonna@dol.gov.
