ROCKINGHAM, North Carolina (October 5, 2010) - - After a very satisfying test at Rockingham (N.C.) this past Sunday, Bryan Silas and his Fast Track Racing team are looking forward to Saturday’s ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards season finale, the American 200 presented by Black's Tire and Auto Service.
Silas, who has turned numerous laps at the track nicknamed “The Rock”, had a special guest on-hand Sunday. Former NASCAR Nationwide Series champion David Green served as a driver-coach for the Stuart, Florida native. The two worked together during the intense testing session and by the end of the day Sunday, Silas was all smiles and feels “revived” about returning to Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway.
“David (Green) helped me a ton,” said Silas, who sits 10th in the ARCA Racing Series championship standings. “David was very informative about what I was doing wrong and explained in great detail what to do to help improve our lap times. I felt very confident about the overall set-up of our No. 11 Rockingham Speedway / Palm Beach Grading Ford Fusion and I’m looking forward to having the opportunity to duplicate our performance from 2009.
Indeed, the 2009 edition of the ARCA RE/MAX 200 was a memorable day. After starting 11th, Silas methodically worked through a challenging field to claim a fourth place finish, his best effort to date in the ARCA Racing Series.
“We’re bringing the same car we finished fourth with back to Rockingham this weekend,” explained Silas. “We’re planning to utilize the same set-up and (hopefully) make some positive changes throughout the weekend that will keep our team in-contention for a strong run in the American 200.”
Green, a nine-time winner in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, will return as a driver coach for Silas this weekend. “Having someone like David Green in the picture at Fast Track Racing is nothing but positive,” Silas added. “It’s a big weekend for our team and for my car owner Andy (Hillenburg, promoter of Rockingham Speedway). We’re hoping to give Andy a special treat on Saturday at a place that is very close to his heart.”
Before turning to his duties on Friday and Saturday, Silas will join a host of other ARCA Racing Series drivers in downtown Rockingham at Thunderfest on Thursday, October 7 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Thursday though will be a very busy day for the Floridian. Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway will open its gates to the stars and cars of the ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards for an open-test at the historic one-mile oval.
Nason, Yeager, Gerson, White & Lioce P.A., MTW Services, Inc., Palm Beach Grading (PBG) and Rockingham Speedway will sponsor Silas’s Ford Fusion for his 91st career ARCA start.
The American 200 presented by Black's Tire and Auto Service (200 laps / 200 miles) is the 20th of 20 events on the 2010 ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards schedule. The fifth ARCA race held at Rockingham is a two-day show. Practice begins Friday, October 8 with an hour and a half practice session planned from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying is slated to begin later in the day at 2:30 p.m. The event will take the green flag on Saturday, October 9 shortly after 1:30 p.m. The race will be broadcasted live on SPEED with additional broadcast coverage including live timing and scoring throughout the 1,313 race for the ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards since it was formed in 1953 available through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com presented by ARCANation.com.
