1992: The U.S. Postal Service issues a 29-cent commemorative stamp honoring the 50th anniversary of the Alaska Highway. The design, by Alaska artist Byron Birdsall, had been unveiled in Anchorage on 6 December 1991, in a ceremony that included Senator Ted Stevens and Representative Don Young.
